Rev3 Portland Training Update

Training is going really well!  I just finished Week 3 of my first base cycle, recovery week up next week HOORAY!  My teammate is doing an amazing job getting me into shape...I know Rev3 Portland is going to be an awesome race!

I've been averaging around 9.5 hours of training which my body has been really liking!  I'm a slow runner so my running mileage, while not super high or anything, takes me a long time--hence the higher weekly average.  I did my first true stride workout this week and nailed my interval paces and my overall pace.  It didn't hurt that the weather cooperated and it wasn't pouring!  I posted these pics already this week but this was my view at the end of Tuesday's run:

I've still been spending a lot of time in the pain cave slaving away on the trainer.  This week I came to the realization that I need a new saddle.  At the end of my ride yesterday I was sooooooo uncomfortable!  I'm off to my local bike shop this week in search of a loaner saddle to help keep my lady bits happy.

I'm still loving the pool, especially since I got my Rev3 shimmer suit and I have foggle to keep my goggles from fogging up (posted the links to where you can get your own shimmer suit and foggle!).  I have a standing swim date with Amy on Wednesday's...who at 36 weeks pregnant has been doing amazing in the pool.  She's a rockin' hardcore momma to be!

Speaking of momma's to be, I had a great run with Jen this morning out at the Banks-Vernonia trail west of Portland.  Jen never fails to kick my butt, at 5 months pregnant she is and will always be iron f'ing Jen!  Banks-Vernonia is a great trail to run all times of the year.  This time of year it's great b/c it's pretty and keeps my mind off the fact that I'm a) climbing; b) getting pelted in the face with rain, hail, sleet or snow (all of which happened today); and c) half the run is DOWNHILL, due to a.
Uphill =), gradual yes, but after nearly 5 miles it doesn't matter that it is gradual

I'm looking forward to my recovery week and hopefully making it to yoga a couple times this week.  I went once last week and it was so great made me realize how much I miss it!
