As I was streaming my holiday music at work, I was thinking about my Christmas playlist. Christmas morning can be a little hectic as my husband’s family is large and ever growing so a run in the morning might not work out but I’m hoping to squeeze in a run sometime that day (or the day before or day after or all three). I already have running plans with Kristen on Monday, Dec 21—yay! For the past two years I’ve made a special Christmas music playlist for use only during the week of Christmas. My top five Xmas songs:
1. Little Saint Nick (Love the Beach Boys)
2. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (For some reason the scene from Home Alone always pops into my head when I hear this song)
3. White Christmas (Who doesn’t love Bing?)
4. Blue Christmas (I spent many years in Hawaii at Christmas and this seemed to be a favorite at the beach restaurants there so it always reminds me of Hawaii.)
5. Run, Run Rudolph (Run, Run, Run!)
In the spirit of the season, I’m hosting another giveaway for all of you. Many of you have probably already read Dean Karnazes’s books but for those of you who haven’t, I’m giving away 50 in 50: I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days -- and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance!

and
Ultramarathon Man for two lucky Ambitious readers. Even if you’ve read these books maybe someone else in your life hasn’t and you can pass them along.
To enter, leave me a comment telling me your favorite holiday song.
(Even if you’re not entering the contest, I still want to hear your favorite holiday songs!)
Contest ends Wednesday, Dec. 16th.

Great idea about the christmas playlist. I must say for running Christmas songs I like Christna Aquilera's This Christmas and for an old favorite Band Aid Do they know it's Christmas!
You don't have to enter me, I've read both from the library already!
My family always listened to a lot of 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer' so that's probably my go to song. Although I did hear the Home Alone Christmas songs yesterday, and the movie was all I could think about.
I'm looking into maybe doing the Havasu Half in April with a coworker. Although I hear great things about Big Sur too - Havasu is super cheap (buy one get one free until Dec 18!!) and fairly close :) You could look at the one :)
favorite holiday song of all time has to be Silent Night, but my fav is a jazz guitar version done on an album called "a blue note christmas: jazz version of christmas classics."
i've read the 50/50 book, but put me in for the other one!
I already own both the books but I am happy to post anyway!
I actually run to two Transiberian Orchestra songs that get me really pumped!
Can't wait to see you on the 21st!
I have not read either book...Would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to WIN!!
My favorite song that I will listen to over and over is the "Baby It's Cold Outside" version sung on the movie ELF.. And the entire Elvis Christmas album because it reminds me of my GRandma..
Hugs!
I haven't read either book and would love to win!! I love "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow" by Bing Crosby. I love a good snow song.
I love "Carol of the Bells" by the Trans-siberian Orchestra! They're awesome live too, btw :)
OH I really wan to read that 50/50 book. It's been on my To read list forever. favorite christmas song is "O Holy night" I always get chills. But I also love "All I want for christmas is you" by mariah carey. Its so darn catchy! I have my list playing at work now too. I love this season!
My favorite Christmas song is 12 Days of Christmas! I haven't read either book.
Not entering the contest - but O Holy Night for sure. It always makes me cry. Seriously. Very awkward.
I love Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Just always have.
I would love to win. I've read Ultramarathon Man, but not 50/50 and really want to read that one!
I'm having a giveaway starting tomorrow!!
Barenaked Ladies' "Elf's Lament" should be on everyone's Christmas running playlist. It is uptempo and gets you laughing when you actually listen to the words.
PS: No need to include me on the give-away since I've read both. Merry Merry.
I would love to win Ultramarathon Man, that is on my list of books to read...I've read 50/50, so you can give that one to someone else...
Either book would be great!!! I'll share one for each book: "The Christmas Song" sung by Nat King Cole and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan
There are a lot of Christmas songs I love but when I think about it, I've got several variations of the same one: The Twelve Days of Christmas. I have John Denver singing with the Muppets, I have The Twelve Pains of Christmas, I have Bob & Doug McKenzie's Twelve Beers of Christmas.... I probably have more but those are my favorites. And of course there is the version I just wrote, the first day of which I just posted!
"All I want for Christmas is yoooooooou!"
read 50/50 so no need to put me in for that one, but Xmas songs... hmmm, not really sure i have a favorite holiday song though, but think i should check out some of the above suggestions! :0
Oh, I would love to read both books!
Honestly I love all the old time classic songs. Let it Snow by Sinatra...or my favorite, (Everybody's Waiting For) The Man with the Bag by Kay Starr. Good luck with your playlist!
I Want A Hippopotamos For Christmas. I also would like the 50/50 book for Christmas. :)
Linked you in today...Umm may be cheating trying to get an extra entry so delete if it is.. :)
Awesome!
My all-time favorite is Carol of the Bells. I love almost any version, but my recent fave has been the version done by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's kind of like a hard rock version, and I LOVE running to it. Sometimes I put it on my running playlist even when it's not Christmas. :)
I love Burl Ives' version of Holly Jolly Christmas!
My favorite Christmas song is the totally redneck country song "Merry Christmas from the Family." You should at least listent to it once for a laugh if you've never heard it. I love the idea of a Christmas playlist, I'm totally going to make one. Thanks for the idea!
Carol of the Bells is hands down my favorite song. I have a CD with about 15 different versions of the song.
I should probably know this, but why did you spend so many Christmases in Hawaii?
My favorite sacred song is probably "O Come, O Come Emmanuel", and my favorite secular song is probably "Baby, It's Cold Outside", even if the lyrics are creepy.
My personal favorite is O' Holy Night sung by Josh Groban.
Well, I absolutely LOVE Christmas music and many favorites, but Ella Fitzgerald's version of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" is towards the top of the list! Along with Bing's "White Christmas" - I watched the movie last night!
I havent read either of the books, I'd love to be entered!
And Nat King Cole's "O holy night" is a fav!
Two Trans-Siberian Orchestra songs have been on my MP3 all year--up until recently, when other Xmas songs have pushed them out: Christmas Sarajevo 12/24 and Wizards in Winter (always think of the video of lights on a house blinking to the music).
I would love EITHER book! Thanks!
